1、 The characteristics of food grade kraft paper
Security; Food grade kraft paper is made from pure plant fibers and does not contain any harmful substances to the human body, such as plasticizers, during the production process. Compared to plastic packaging, it is safer and more hygienic.
Environmental friendliness; Food grade kraft paper, as a biodegradable food packaging material, can be used as fertilizer after degradation without releasing harmful gases that can cause harm to the environment.
Stable performance; It has the characteristics of moisture resistance, oil resistance, low temperature freezing resistance, freshness and quality preservation, and is suitable for vacuum packaging, sterile packaging and other fields.
Low cost; The raw materials grow naturally and have abundant sources. In addition, they are suitable for large-scale mechanized production with low production costs. Compared to packaging materials such as glass and plastic, the cost of food packaging kraft paper is 10 to 20 percentage points lower when achieving the same barrier effect.
Good printing performance; It can meet the needs of the vast majority of packaging and printing manufacturers, with low printing costs, excellent results, and a variety of varieties.
Good mechanical properties; Has certain strength, stiffness, and mechanical adaptability, as well as foldability, elasticity, and tear resistance. Easy to process into packaging containers with various properties, easy to achieve mechanized processing operations, suitable for both mechanized processing and automated production, and can also create beautifully shaped packaging through manual manufacturing, while facilitating composite processing. Foldable for storage and transportation before packaging, saving space and reducing costs.
Aesthetics; Compared to plastic, food grade paper packaging is more convenient for printing and provides a three-dimensional and more advanced packaging for items, which can increase the added value of the product.
2、 Requirements for food grade kraft paper
Food grade kraft paper has much higher safety requirements than ordinary kraft paper, which are manifested in:
External:
a) Site selection requirements: The factory area of a food grade processing factory must be determined within a certain range, and there must be no pig farms, furniture factories, chemical factories, or other places that may pollute product safety in the surrounding area to avoid cross contamination.
b) Factory requirements: The construction of the production area of a food grade processing factory should be planned reasonably based on the principle of first in, first out of materials and products to avoid secondary pollution, etc.
c) Equipment requirements: All production equipment in food grade processing factories must be food grade, such as using food grade stainless steel as the substrate for direct contact with products, and using iron and plastic materials that are not easy to peel off for pallets.
d) Personnel requirements: All personnel entering and exiting the production area must wear uniform work clothes and hats, wash hands and disinfect.
Internal:
Food grade kraft paper must not contain any harmful substances and comply with China’s hygiene standards for food packaging base paper; For example, Lianxing produces food grade kraft paper that has passed multiple certifications, such as QS in China, FDA in foreign countries, BRC, etc. Each batch of products is sent to relevant testing institutions for various bacterial, toxicological, and migration tests before being put on the market, ensuring the safety of each product and striving to satisfy and trust all customers.
3、 The difference between food grade kraft paper and regular kraft paper
All wood pulp production
No harmful substances can be added
During the manufacturing process of ordinary kraft paper, special ingredients such as whitening agents and fluorescent agents are added, but food grade kraft paper does not allow the addition of any harmful ingredients to the body. At present, the recycled and environmentally friendly kraft paper on the market is produced using recycled pulp, which has a wide range of sources and cannot control its quality. In addition, due to the need to add various chemical agents and other harmful chemicals to the deinking process of recycled pulp, no matter how the recycled pulp is processed, it cannot be removed, so it cannot meet the food grade requirements that are harmless to the human body. Therefore, this type of kraft paper can only be used for ordinary packaging.
Food grade kraft paper is made of whole wood pulp, 100% natural material, free of harmful substances, and can come into direct contact with food.
Strict legal regulations
Food grade kraft paper, due to its direct contact with food, must comply with not only the regulations for ordinary packaging but also the regulations for food grade packaging. After the product is manufactured, it must go through multiple inspection processes and multiple certification standards to ensure the safety and harmlessness of the product.
